Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about MCU Nexus and how to get the most out of it.

What is MCU Nexus?

MCU Nexus is your personal, interactive MCU watch-order dashboard. It lets you track your progress through the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe — movies, TV shows, shorts, and specials — in either release order or chronological order.

Beyond a simple checklist, Nexus features a live progress dashboard with achievement badges, custom MCU mood themes, character journey trackers, a "Quantum Radar" spotlight that tells you what to watch next, and much more.

Should I watch in release or chronological order?

If this is your first time watching the MCU, we recommend release order so you can experience the story the way Marvel originally presented it.

If you're doing a rewatch, chronological order can be a fun shake-up that adds a new perspective to the overall narrative. You can switch between both at any time using the toggle at the top of the viewing order page.

How do I mark something as watched?

Simply click or tap anywhere on a card to toggle it as watched. You'll see the checkbox light up with the title's unique universe color, and the card will dim to show it's been completed.

Your progress updates instantly across the top stats bar, the collapsible dashboard, achievement badges, and the Quantum Radar spotlight. Everything is saved locally in your browser — no account needed.

⚠️ If you're using incognito/private browsing or you clear your browser cache, your progress will be lost. Use the Export feature to back it up.

How do I back up or restore my progress?

Open the menu (☰) and tap Export Progress. This generates a short code you can copy and save anywhere — a notes app, a text file, wherever is convenient.

To restore your progress on a new device or browser, open the menu, tap Import Progress, paste your saved code, and everything will be restored instantly.

What are the MCU Mood Themes?

MCU Mood Themes transform the entire look and feel of the site with curated color palettes inspired by the MCU. You can switch between five themes using the colored dots in the menu:

🔵 Nexus Standard — The default deep slate blue.
🔴 Stark Tech — Sleek black & gold with hot-rod red accents.
🟠 TVA Chronicle — Retro-futuristic amber and bronze tones.
🟣 Wakandan Vibranium — Royal purple with vibranium energy glows.
🟢 Sorcerer Supreme — Cosmic emerald green and jade.

Your selected theme is saved and automatically applied across all pages.

What is the MCU Nexus Dashboard?

The collapsible dashboard (below the progress bar) shows a detailed breakdown of your watch progress by Phase — Phase 1 through Phase 5 plus Multiverse entries — each with its own progress bar.

It also includes six Achievement Badges that unlock as you hit milestones:

🛡️ Iron Man Initiate — Watch the first 3 chronological titles.
Avenger Assembled — Complete all Avengers crossover films.
🔮 Multiverse Walker — Explore 5+ non-Earth-616 entries.
TVA Agent — Complete all of Phase 4.
🌟 Infinity Conqueror — Finish the entire Infinity Saga (Phases 1–3).
🛸 Ultimate Watcher — Achieve 100% completion!

What are Character & Infinity Journeys?

Journeys let you filter the entire timeline down to a specific character's story arc or an Infinity Stone's path. Available journeys include:

🚀 Iron Man (Stark Tech)
🛡️ Captain America
Thor (Cosmic Thunder)
🔮 Scarlet Witch (Magic)
🕷️ Spider-Man (Web-Slinger)
🪐 Guardians of the Galaxy (Cosmic Outlaws)
👁️ Doctor Strange (Mystic Arts)
💎 Space Stone (Tesseract)

When you activate a journey, only matching titles are shown in the timeline, the cards glow with that character's signature color, and a Journey Stats badge appears showing your watched count and remaining watch time for that specific path.

Click Reset Highlights to return to the full timeline.

What is the Quantum Radar spotlight?

The Quantum Radar is the glassmorphic banner that appears above the timeline when you have unwatched titles. It automatically calculates and highlights your next recommended watch based on your current sort order.

If you have a Character or Infinity Journey active, the Radar adapts and recommends the next unwatched title within that specific journey.

You can check off the title directly from the banner — everything syncs instantly. Once all titles (or all journey titles) are watched, the banner transforms into a congratulatory completion screen.

How do the filters and view modes work?

Use the Filters button to narrow the timeline by Studio (Marvel Studios, Disney+, Netflix, Sony, etc.), Canon status, and specific Multiverse designations.

The View dropdown lets you switch between three layout modes:
Comfortable — Full-size cards in a spacious grid.
Compact — Smaller cards fitting more on screen.
List — A dense, single-column list for power users.

You can also toggle Hide Watched to only see what you haven't completed yet, and switch between Old → New or New → Old sort directions.

What is the floating scroll map on the right side?

On desktop, the floating rail on the right side of the screen is the Scroll Map. It gives you a bird's-eye view of your position in the timeline.

A glowing needle tracks your scroll position in real time, and the Phase nodes highlight as you reach each section. Click any node to smoothly jump to that Phase.

When a Character Journey is active, Phase nodes that contain no matching titles will dim automatically, giving you instant feedback about where the story beats are.

Does this site work offline?

Yes. MCU Nexus is a fully static site — all data, styles, and scripts are included locally. There are no external API calls, no server-side rendering, and no third-party dependencies. You can open the HTML files directly from your computer and everything works perfectly.

Your watch progress, theme preferences, and dashboard state are all stored in your browser's localStorage.

Can I print the watch order?

Yes! Open the menu (☰) and click Print Watch Order. This generates a clean, print-optimized layout of the entire timeline that you can print or save as a PDF.
